  • Please note that I just undid a change you made on McCall 6062.

You erased an existing vendor link (that was still valid) at the top of the list and replaced it with yours.  Both actions violate non-negotiable vendor link rules.

    1) When removing other users' links, you must be certain that the link is sold or expired

    2) New links go to the bottom of the list

Please read the About page again.

    • Hi there,

So sorry about that, I always check the links and thought the item was sold so I updated it. I sincerely apologize for this mistake. Noted about the new links order.

Also, Tarna, could you help me with a question about uploading pictures. I can't seem to change the size of the photo once uploaded, I click "modify" and reduce the pixel size but the picture remains oversized. Could you please offer your advice on this?

Thank you and sorry again about the mistake earlier.

    • The picture upload tool is awkward at best when it comes to resizing.  I do so in Source mode (you would have to switch your user preferences to be able to edit in both sources and classic).

  • Hi,

Glad you are finding your way around a little better.

Some notes on recent edits you made:

    1.  Vendor link - you should include your shop name within the link, or the link comes out funny looking (and harder to identify as a link)

    2.  We differentiate between McCall and McCall's patterns.

    3.  Categories:  these can be a bit difficult to get used to and use properly.  The categories are established already and form a page for each, unlike tags on etsy.  You may want to hold off on adding until you are more familiar with them.

    • Hi Tarna,

Thanks for the notes, I did read that search results will be different depending on whether McCall and McCall's is entered in the search. Can you tell me if there is a preferred term between these two? I went with McCall's just because it's what's printed the envelope. And could you help me understand about the vendor link? I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean, could you give an example to help me understand better? I have been following the example of the other vendors listed and list my shop name "Rosebud Patterns on Etsy" and create a live link to the shop name.

Thanks again, and I will hold off on the categories for now and try to understand better. Have a good night!

    • Hello again,

On McCall vs. McCall's - the name on the envelope of the last one you entered was McCall, not McCall's, thus the reminder.  They changed the name on the envelope sometime in 1951.

It seems you figured out the vendor link yourself.  Your earlier links in the day had the vendor name outside the link brackets, but then you corrected it yourself.

      Best regards,

      tarna

  • Hello,

Welcome to the wiki.  The message below is an automated one...

Please do take a moment to read the About page. It contains useful information on vendor link requirements and rules, naming conventions, etc.

    About adding new patterns:

    • Please make sure not to erase the pre-formatting when adding a new pattern.  It gives spaces for all the right contributions, such as e.g. vendor links.

    • Descriptions go on the pattern page, not the picture file page.

If you have trouble editing in the default VisualEditor format, here is an older (and prefered by many) way to edit.  You would need to change your preferences to get there:

    • Place your mouse or cursor over your user name in the upper right hand corner of the any pages(in the dark green area on the very top).  You shiould see a drop-down menu including "My preferences".
      *Select "MyPreferences"
*On that page, select the "Editing" tab
*In the section "Editing Experience", select "Wikia's classic rich-text editor"
*Make sure to click the tiny "Save" button at the bottom, and you should be all set.

Please do ask questions - two admins are linked in the original welcome message.

    Best regards,

    tarna (one of the admins)

    • Hi Tarna,

Thank you for your message, I have read through the guidelines and combed through the "Help" section but am finding it a little hard in the beginning to learn to navigate the location of all the commands. When I go to create a new page, I upload an image without deleting any information but I cannot seem to get the preformatted sections e.g. "contents", "links" ect.

Thanks for your patience, I'm a quick study, just have to get past this learning curve!

    • Hi Tarna,

I changed to the classic rich-text editor which helps a great deal with editing but still cannot find the preformatted sections despite not deleting anything. Could you please advise me on this issue? Thank you :)

    • Hi,

In order to get the pre-formatting page, you need to start with the button on the front page called "Create".

Wiki markup is a little difficult at first, but I am sure you will get used to it soon...
