  • Hi,

While I love the illustration you posted there, it appears to be and advertisement for an actual dress, not a dress pattern, so it needs to go - off topic for this wiki, sorry.

    Best regards,

    • Hello, I have a question about the newspaper fashion news leaflets that stores use to give out in the 50's on different pattern companies. Is there a place to put a whole pdf file of it or do you want the specific patterns broken out along with their descriptions?

    • Hello,

The short answer is - both.

We have a whole list of publications for these, take a look:

      http://vintagepatterns.wikia.com/wiki/Category%3ACatalogs

There are also magazines, which featured patterns:

      http://vintagepatterns.wikia.com/wiki/Category%3AMagazine

For the individual patterns listed, we usually link to them internally (if they already exist(, or put up individual pages for the ones that are not there yet, and link those back to the catalog or magazine.

      I hope this helps,

      tarna

  • Hi,

I noticed that you insert pattern descriptions into existing pages, but as an image caption, rather than putting the description directly on the page.

This distorts the formatting, and is not the right place.  On a page, please add the text underneath the image.

    Best regards,

    tarna

    • Hello, Are we allowed to add the pattern back to the pages? Also, someone asked me to add their pattern collection, is that okay? Thanks

    • Hello,

I assume you mean a picture of the back of the envelope?  Yes, you can add it, but it should go beneath the description and sort of small in format (people can see the bigger version by ckling on it), so it does not clutter the layout.

As for adding someone else's collection, as long as you have permission to use their pictures (or create your own pictures from their collection), there should be no issue.

      Best regards,

      tarna

  • Hello,

Welcome to the wiki.  When entering a new page, please make sure to follow wiki naming conventions.  In this case, when a pattern already axists with that manufacturer and pattern number, we add a space after the number and the next letter in the alphabet starting with A.  I renamed the Vogue 8914 pattern you entered to reflect the correct name as Vogue 8914 A

    Best regards,

    tarna

    • Hello Tarna, thank you for the help. As you might have guessed I'm very new to this, but wanted to add to your collection. Please feel free to edit whatever does not look right. All suggestions from you are very welcome.

I don't know how to do the category area so I leave that blank.....

Can you please link my page Advance 6559 to page Advance 6557 in your files.

Another question, I have a pattern that is already in your files, it's in pink color graphics, Advance 4054. My copy is in blue graphics. Same design, but probably released in a different year. Do you want that added to your files?

      Thanks, Cindy
      Advance 4054

    • Hello,

The Advvance 4054 - different colorways wer quite common, and not necessarily an indication of a reissue or different year.  You can add it, if you want to.

      Best regards,

      tarna
