  • Hello,

Please, no all caps in vendor link texts - e.g. write Uncut, not UNCUT

    Best regards,

  • Kwik Sew 2904 clearly says ©MM = the year 2000, thus off topic on the wiki.

    • Hi Tarna,

My apologies for the recent posting issues.  I share my Etsy store with my mother in law, who is in her 70s, and she clearly is having some Wikia issues. The recent changes to the site have quite confused her.  I will ask her to stop posting until I can sit down with her and do a full tutorial with her over the process and your recent messages.

Thank you for all your work moderating this site.

      Best,

      Zoe

    • Dear Zoe,

Thank you for the reply.   Sorry if I sounded a bit direct...

There were a few overwritten pictures recently, and they are not always obvious to catch, so we want to make sure users understand what not to do.

      Best wishes,

      tarna

  • I repeat - you need to upload pictures with unique file names.

For the second time in a week, I had to fix an overwrite of an existing picture, because you use the name

    image.jpg

for every upload.  Please make sure to not overwrite existing files by choosing a unique name, such as e.g. KS2904.jpg, instead of the generic name.

  • Hi,

There were two issues with your recent upload:

    1. You overwrote and existing file - a warning pops up when you do this - please do not ignore.  I have corrected this, as I need to delete the upload anyway because

    2. The Kwik Sew pattern you added was from 2003 (in Roman numerals MMIII), thus off topic for this wiki.

Please make sure to double-check before uploading.

    Best regards,

    tarna

  • Hi,

I notice that you try to add your vendor link from an anonymous IP address.  Unfortunately, you only add your user name, no link, thus it is being removed.

You need to sign in, and you need to reset your preferences once signed in, to edit properly.  See all previous messages.

    Best regards,

    tarna

  • Hi,

I just undid one of your latest edits.  If you reset your preferences as outlined in the previous message, you might have better luck making a functional edit (the vendor link was not a working link, etc.)

  • Hi,

I noticed that you appear to have trouble editing with the new VisualEditor wikia recently made default.  You recently added two duplicates, and several non-functional vendor links.

You can change your preferences back to the way you used to see the edits by following these steps:

    • Place your mouse or cursor over your user name in the upper right hand corner of the any pages(in the dark green area on the very top).  You shiould see a drop-down menu including *"My preferences".
      *Select "MyPreferences"
*On that page, select the "Editing" tab
*In the section "Editing Experience", select "Wikia's classic rich-text editor"
*Make sure to click the tiny "Save" button at the bottom, and you should be all set.

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,

    tarna

    • Sorry about that!  I hope I've got it now.  Thank you for all you do maintaining the high quality of this wiki.

    • Tarna, I can no longer get the classic editor to work and even with a partner trying to help me we can't figure out how to enter listings properly anymore.  When I click "add a page" I get a blank editor that is not formatted for the pattern wiki - no section for vendors or reviews, just a blank editor.  In the blank editor I put the photo in first but then can't get the text to appear under it.  Is there somewhere on the wiki that describes how to properly enter a listing with the new editor?  I can usually figure this kind of thing out but I'm mystified - I can't even figure out how to delete the Style 2869 listing I just entered!

    • P.S. I did just discover the pattern wiki template using the pink "Make a Page" button but when I click on the photo placeholder to add a photo I get an error message saying the photo cannot be edited.

    • Hi,

Pink?  Now I am worried...  ;).  The Create button on the front page is the right way to start.

Some browsers are strangly, so that may be your problem.

Ignore the photo placeholder (it can be deleted in Source mode later), and just add a new photo with the button on the right-hand in edit mode.

I will be unavailable for a few days - if you have more trouble, you may need to confer with Petite Main.

      Best regards,

      tarna

  • Hello,

You just added another 1990s pattern.  Vintage is defined as 25 years old or older on this wiki.  Please wait until patterns reach the appropriate age before adding them.

      Loading editor
    • Sorry Tarna...you don't happen to know which one?  My mother in law helps me list patterns sometimes and she struggles to be able to tell pattern decades from the pattern photo.

      Best,

      Zoe

    • Hi, sorry, it is difficult to tell from the Deletion Log who uploaded it, but I am pretty sure that the description actually said it was a 1990s pattern.

I agree though, that purely from the photo it is nearly impossible to distinguish the late 1980s from the early 1990s.

      Best regards

    • I've let my mother in law know to be more careful in future!  She likely forgot that it's 80s and earlier only.
