Godey's Lady's Book: Morning Wrapper, October 1855, p.353, pattern on p.354

The front of this wrapper is formed by making the two front breadths of the skirt sufficiently long to gather in at the shoulder, leaving about two inches plain, to hollow out for the neck. A tape is run from under each arm, through the back, to toe in front, inside. A band in two pieces is fastened on the outside of the back, under the arms, to bring down and tie in front.
