Vintage Simplicity Sewing Patterns

Simplicity Pattern Company began in 1927. At the time, producing dress patterns for the home sewing market was the exclusive province of McCall's and other magazines. In the early 1940’s, Simplicity embarked on a major sewing education program, by which traveling representatives, fashion shows, and educational literature were presented and disseminated across the country (more on the Simplicity website ). Simpllicity dress patterns soon found their way into many homes!

In the 1930s Simplicity had a "Couture" line (see here) and the Simplicity patterns were featured in Woman's Home Companion. In the 1940s, Simplicity patterns were featured in Chatelaine magazine, while in the 1950s they were featured in Harper's Bazaar and in Seventeen magazines.
