Sir Norman Bishop Hartnell (1901-1979) was an English fashion designer appointed dressmaker to the British Royal Family in 1938. He designed models for Advance (#110, #119 and #123) and Spadea. In 1937, he created some patterns (#7318, #7323 and #7325) for Butterick, see Butterick Fashion News, Spring 1937. In early 1992, Vogue Patterns launched some patterns branded "Hartnell London."
