Vintage Cheongsam Sewing Patterns

The cheongsam is a fitted (body-hugging) Chinese gown, also known as a qipao (or "Mandarin gown" in English), often made of silk with frog-button closures and high collars.

These Chinese inspired dresses were briefly popular in the West during the 1950s and found their way onto several patterns during this time. Also in the 1960s film, The World of Suzie Wong, actress Nancy Kwan wore a cheongsam, causing it to again be fashionable in western culture.
