1950s Sewing Patterns
Many dress patterns in the 1950s showcased a wide range of skirt styles, but almost always with a darted top to highlight a small waist paired with a flattering flared to full skirts. Also slim pencil skirt suits and full circle poodle skirts were popular.

Fifties fashion also saw the promotion of "Easy To Make" sewing patterns from pattern companies like Butterick, McCall's, Simplicity and Vogue. Late in the 1950s, straighter less shaped styles start to appear as the early 1960s style began to take over.
