California Couture P 2701; 1960s; Designer Elis Porter, whose collections always include a series of afternoon dresses for summer, gets the nod from the world of fashion with this month's California Couture Pattern. It's the soft dress, especially pretty in pastels, that every woman needs for luncheons, for bridge games, for informal dinners, for practically every occasion that demands a little more than casual sportswear. For the design shown today, accented with a bow near the shoulder and at the hip, Porter chose uncrushable Fibranne, yet the dress is adaptable to many other fabrics. Silks and cottons are best for summer months, and it moves easily into the fall in silk or wool crepe.
