Butterick3572d

Butterick 3572; ca. 1930; Slip-Over Frock in empire effect, for misses and small women, closed at left underarm, skirt having straight sections gathered and joined together, and attached to basque, evening neck and armhole or day neck and normal armhole with puff or cape sleeve.

Called “The Kate Greenaway Silhouette” in Delineator, December 1930: “a well known Paris couturier designed evening gowns in this quaint style. It is faithful to the old time models with its pouf sleeves, gathered and gradually fuller skirt, and Empire waistline. Paris is using velvet ribbon in this way for girdles on its new lace frocks. The flounces are straight sections gathered and joined together”.
