Bestway D 3989; ca. late 1950s or early 1960s; "A Woman's Illustrated Couture Pattern, designed in Paris by Pierre Cardin"
The straight skirt has two soft pleats at the front, and is darted at the back. A double waistband joins the bodice and skirt and the bodice is fitted into the band with gathers at the front and pleats at the back. the front neck has two diagonal pleats meeting at the centre front. The back shoulder edges are fitted with darts. The double, bow trimmed band collar is caught to the neck of the dress at front and back only. The short sleeves are set into normal armholes. A wide, stiffened belt finishes the waist and a long zip is inserted into the centre back seam of the dress.
