Leonard Arkin by Virginia Pope
Mr. Leonard Arkin is one of America’s leading designer-manufacturers. His 37 years experience in the dress manufacturing business has earned him a place of distinction in both the hearts and wardrobes of women everywhere who want to be fashion right.
Mr. Arkin’s sensitivity to the fashion world and to fashion rightness enables him to immediately incorporate new fashion trends into his designs and interpret them into appealing and flattering styles.
For the Advance American Designer series we have selected a Leonard Arkin original which incorporates the easy line – not wholly concentrating not wholly revealing, but softly and gently shadowing the shape of the body with its soft blouson bodice and slender skirted dress, Advance Printed Pattern No. 8681.
The ups and downs of hemlines – the ins and outs of waistlines – have all been watched by Mr. Arkin during his many years in the fashion business and he has rightly concluded that women just love a change – they love something, anything – just so long as it is NEW!
It is always interesting to know a few intimate details about a well-known personage. As is often the case, there is a woman in this successful picture, his lovely wife Rose, who, we are sure, contributed much to the success of her husband’s enterprise by her discriminating taste. Three children complete this charming family, two married daughters, Pat and Judith, and their son Andrew.
Leonard and Andrew Arkin, father and son, have been equal partners in this business for the past eight years. It is Andrew, his father proudly and readily admits, who is largely responsible for the latest methods of promotion and advertising presently used by this fast growing organization. Little wonder then, that Leonard Arkin dresses are sought after from coast to coast.
